Jen the Hen. That’s what the neighborhood kids called
Jennifer Allen Scanlon way back when.
So, in 2005 when Jen began creating fun, funky and functional handbags and totes for herself and then for her friends and neighbors, henjen handbags seemed like a logical choice.
The first henjen handbag was created just for fun with scraps that Jen had gathered in her occasional trips to the fabric store. Jen’s mom had taught her some basic sewing when she was growing up, so she knew how to put everything together. The result was quite striking and had all of her friends buzzing. The consensus was that Jen’s bags would sell! And sure enough that first henjen was actually bought right off of Jen’s arm by a persistent admirer. Jen left the store she was shopping in with the contents of her henjen bag in a paper bag!
Jen knew that she was onto something. Not only did henjen handbags allow her to share her love of fabric, color and patterns, and her talent for combining all three, but it also could fit in around Jen’s first job, raising her three
children.
henjen handbags will always reflect Jen’s philosophy that fashion shouldn’t be too serious and that being a cool chick must come from within……..but, come on, a great bag can’t hurt.
